The city council is composed of the mayor and five aldermen elected by the qualified voters within the corporate limits of this city. The mayor and aldermen shall hold their offices for a term of two years, and until their successors are elected and qualified. Election of the mayor and all aldermen shall be held in odd-numbered years. The city aldermen shall be elected by the place system at all elections therefor as permitted by state law.
